Music Headache!
I don't know if it's just me, but have you ever had a music headache? I wonder, is there such thing? I've been having really hard sleeping issues this past week. The week before last, because of my health problems, I was going to bed at 8pm every night! That is very different for an average 15 year old these days! I read my Bible and pray every night before my lights go off. I really don't get it. I think, will reading a reassuring and comforting Psalm help when David was having troubles? I try it, but it never works. I lay my head down on my big fluffy pillow, curl up like a baby, hug my teddy bear, and pull up my warm feather comforter and begin to fall asleep. Suddenly, a song get's popped into my head. Doesn't matter what song, whether it's what I'm studying in piano, what we are singing in choir at school, or the fun jazzy Michael Buble, or even my favorite band Casting Crowns, it won't go away!! I get my ipod out and listen to the song and hope that it will get out of my head. Nope, that didn't work, and definently made it worse! So, I watch a funny Pixar Short Film that would hopefully distract my mind a bit. Nope, that just made it worse! So, I get out my journal, and start writing down whatever comes to my mind first. Does that help? Nope, it just made it worse! All these thoughts are just running through my head and won't go away!! I've been a week behind in school; trying my hardest to catch up to the peeps in my class, so it's been a little bit stressful. So, all these tests I'm studying for are building up more and more. I'll be laying there with my eyes open and suddenly a thought of what kind of ion is in a base from my physical science class will come into my head. Then a crazy idea of a new invention! Or, what it would be like to become a famous chef! ALL THESE RANDOM MUSIC AND THOUGHTS WON'T GO AWAY! What a music headache.....maybe I should not listen to any music for a month! If anyone has any ideas please comment on this post! I've tried most everything. I've even tried to drug myself with Benadryl, and that doesn't work. I'll prop my head up and try to sleep so all the blood doesn't rush to my brain, and that doesn't seem to work either. I'll play games on my laptop to try and make my eyes tired, and that doesn't work either! What is wrong with me? WILL THIS EVER STOP!!!!!! Anyone!!! JUST GIVE ME SOME ADVICE!!!! SOMEONE!!!!!!!! if you don't have any, and are having the same problems, maybe we could chat....and create some new medicine for the sleeping disorder. That's it! I have a sleeping disorder!!! Why do I still seem tired, even though I can't fall asleep. I've been so tired lately; yawning, drooping eyelids, dark circles under my eyes, but I still can't make myself fall asleep. Something is wrong, and I don't know what.

Well look at me, it's 1:56am, and I'm commenting on your post about not being able to sleep! I'm in bed reading your post and I just had to laugh at the irony...
I know exactly what you are talking about! When I was your age, it would take me at least 1-2 hrs to fall asleep every night, no matter what time I went to bed. It is frustrating, I know. For some reason it seemed to stop after a while... so there's hope! ;) (That being said though, for some strange reason, during these past two weeks I've been off from work, I haven't been able to fall asleep till 2:30 or so... I'm not really in any sort of routine, and I think I'm just whacked out.)
Things have been stressful for you lately... you haven't been feeling well, and you probably have a ton on your mind. Remember to cast all your cares on Christ (1 Peter 5:7). Meditate on His promises, His attributes, His goodness, and His many blessings. Pray as you try to fall asleep. These things will probably help quiet your mind.
Just some thoughts. I posted a few other suggestions in reply to your Facebook question earlier. Hope some of it is helpful!
I hope you're sleeping now, but I'll say a prayer for you. I hope this situation will improve soon! ;)
Guess you love music, girl, and that's a beautiful thing. But I know what'cha mean. When we were in Cape Cod I had that little kid rap song stuck in my head while I was trying to go to sleep. It was terrible!!!!! Honestly, I don't have any advice, but I think this is a result of a looooove of music!!!! :)))
Headache? Maybe change the colors on your blog, just a random thought.... :)
Hi Alisha!
I saw the link to this from Avary's blog. I TOTALLY have a great idea to help people fall asleep. it has worked for EVERYONE I have told about it (including your mom, I think).
Go through the alphabet and think of an attribute of God for each letter. Start with "A" and praise God for say, His "a"bility or that He's "a"lmighty or "a"cessible. Then "B" and so on. Praise Him and think through what that attribute has to do with your life and your situation. Take a few minutes to pray through that attribute.
Going through the alphabet serves to give your mind some stucture to follow. It keeps it from drifting to other random thoughts...it disciplines your thoughts. I find that when I try to pray randomly at night, my mind drifts, and many times I start worrying about stuff that I'm trying to pray about instead of keeping my mind on praising God! Or I just start thinking about random things, like you mentioned.
I started this practice in high school (my mom told me to try it-she made it up) and have done so every night I can't fall asleep. I have only made it through the alphabet like once...and then I just started again at "A". Usually I fall asleep around "K" :).
I hope this helps you to have peaceful slumber, dwelling on the Lord, using those spare moments to honor Him!!!
Tiffany :)
